The new home of the Faculty of Education and Social Work and the Faculty of Arts for The University of Auckland (B201) is making great progress and was recently awarded the 6 Green Star Design Review Certificate from The New Zealand Green Build Building Council (NZGBC).

Receiving 93 points – the highest score awarded since the inception of NZGBC’s design rating, the building is transformational for the University of Auckland and its journey toward a Net-Zero Carbon future. The hard work isn’t over with the team ensuring the building achieves a minimum of 75 points for the design and as-built rating once it is completed.

Having built the original building back in the 70s, we’re proud to be back onsite 50 years later and play a part in its revival. In order to ensure the building meets its targets, initiatives such as using materials that have a low environmental impact, reusing the existing concrete structure, diverting 70% of waste from landfill (although they’re currently outperforming tracking at around 90%) and implementing responsible construction initiatives such as MATES in Construction accreditation is all helping them work towards the desired outcome.
