Today Auckland Airport announced it was entering into a contract with hashtag Hawkins to deliver the new domestic jet terminal – the major structure in AKL’s upgrade. 🛫🏗
The project will see the current domestic terminal replaced and integrated into the international passenger function in a single combined terminal and is among the largest infrastructure projects ever undertaken in New Zealand.
Hawkins has been working collaboratively with Auckland Airport in an Early Contractor Involvement phase since February 2022 and is also currently on site delivering an enabling work package for the Domestic Jet Terminal under a separate contract.
“Downer and Hawkins are pleased to be part of this transformative project, delivering a world-class terminal for travellers, airlines, and the people of New Zealand.” said Peter Tompkins, Downer CEO.
Hawkins EGM, Craig Treloar, said: “Hawkins has a long-standing relationship with Auckland Airport spanning nearly 40 years, and we are proud to be part of this nationally significant project. We’re committed to creating local opportunities through employment and supply chain partnerships, supporting the community every step of the way.”
Auckland Airport Chief Executive Carrie Hurihanganui said: “We’re pleased to announce that we have partnered with Hawkins on the delivery of the domestic jet terminal building – the most significant element in Auckland Airport’s ongoing upgrade.
“Auckland Airport has a long-standing relationship with Hawkins, and we know they have the track record and expertise to successfully deliver such an important aviation asset for New Zealand.”
Well done to our team members for their hard work and dedication in reaching this important milestone. Work is set to begin in September 2024, with completion scheduled for 2029.
