Allan has more than 25 years’ experience in the construction industry, working on all types of build and contracts in the UK and New Zealand.

Allan is an excellent coach and mentor who has vast technical and commercial knowledge. He is a strong leader who enjoys working directly with our teams.

“It’s about being visible, it’s hard to get buy-in unless you’re there. You need to build respect and trust, and the best way to do that is to physically be there to provide support and direction,” he says.

Allan became part of the Hawkins Senior Leadership Team in May 2018. His role has a national focus, and allows him to get stuck in and help our regional teams by sharing his knowledge and experience.

Allan truly believes in Hawkins’ project-lead thinking.

“The construction industry is about people. It’s all about reputation and delivering on your promises. Everyone works together to get a project finished – from the client to the project team, consultants and subcontractors. If everyone is working towards the same shared goal, then the project is a success.

Being part of the University of Auckland Business School project, which was completed in 2007.
Achievement: 
The $300 million Auckland South Correctional Facility, which was the first New Zealand facility to be designed, built, financed, operated and maintained through a PPP. Allan was involved from bid through to completion.
