By taking up a career at Hawkins, you will help shape landscapes and communities throughout New Zealand, tapping into a wealth of knowledge and experience. You really can expect to grow and develop through every project you're involved with.
We have a culture of nurturing development and sharing skills that makes Hawkins a great place to work if you are hungry to learn.
We have training programmes that are run throughout the year, including:
- Hawkins Graduate and Cadet Programme. This innovative two-year Cadet programme is designed to help cadets become familiar with site operations, estimating and tendering, planning and programming, and commercial management. Participants will gain a holistic understanding of the entire construction process, learning to work and communicate effectively within multi-disciplinary project teams. It is open to those with a relevant tertiary qualification in construction, as well as qualified carpenters.
- Access to Downer training programmes including Te Ara Whanake, Mental Health First Aid training and leadership development programmes.
Through all of our training initiatives, we foster a culture of collaboration, communication, and innovation to empower our team to take on the future with confidence. Many people who start out at Hawkins as apprentices, cadets or university graduates, have gone on to become project managers, quantity surveyors, engineers and business leaders.
