In 2012, at the age of 23, Sapoa Rimoni was a stay at home mum of two when she decided to fulfil her interest in carpentry. In the space of three years she has completed Carpentry Level 4 and progressed to a NZ Diploma in Civil Engineering through MIT.

Hawkins has supported her learning journey, offering her a summer internship in 2014. In 2015 she joined the business as a site engineer with Hawkins Infrastructure as she particularly enjoys working on Open Spaces.

“My determination to succeed has helped me to gain valuable work experience onsite with Hawkins.”

To encourage more young adults into engineering e2e recently rolled out a nationwide awareness campaign and asked Sapoa to be a spokesperson. Check out her video below:

Sapoa is a great example for all women with construction aspirations. Although she has met with opposition Sapoa has never let this stop her following her dream. Her next goal is to become a Project Manager on large-scale projects.
